Choose a Pruning Saw by Blade and Carrying Format

Compare folding saws, fixed curved blades and a multi-blade handle without confusing blade length, branch capacity or tooth density.

Choose how the saw carries

Corona RS16150B is the 2025 folding model with a 10-inch curved blade and lock-back arrangement. FELCO 603 is a curved pull-stroke folding saw with an 8-inch blade label. Folding the blade into the handle changes the carrying format; compare those actual blade scales and controls before choosing.

Silky ZUBAT 270-33 is instead a fixed curved 330 mm saw with a locking scabbard. The supplied scabbard provides the separate carrying protection for this fixed blade. Choose that fixed-blade arrangement when it is the format you want, or a folding model when storage inside the handle is the deciding feature.

Keep the three measurements apart

The ZUBAT listing separately names a 330 mm blade, a 6.5-inch cut-capacity claim and 7.5 teeth per 30 mm. Blade length, stated branch diameter and tooth density are different decisions. None should be substituted for another merely because all appear as numbers beside the model.

The same listing gives 6.4 teeth per inch. Keep the unit when comparing a TPI-labelled blade, rather than treating 7.5 per 30 mm as 7.5 per inch. Tooth count is also not a universal speed score: choose the model’s actual blade and material role instead of inventing a cut-rate ranking.

Choose a blade role, not just more blades

MOSSY OAK supplies a folding handle with three total 190 mm blades and a pouch. The black pruning blade is 5 TPI; the grey hardwood/plastic blade is 11 TPI; the metal blade is 18 TPI. This gives distinct named uses in one handle. The finest teeth are not automatically the branch-pruning choice.

The installed blade is one of the three, while the other two are loose in the main picture. The seller describes the pouch for the saw and the two unused blades. If your only need is one pruning blade in a folding tool, compare the dedicated Corona or FELCO models instead of buying unrelated blade roles merely for a larger piece count.

Check the replacement and maintenance system

A replacement must match the exact handle and mounting system as well as the intended blade role. A 190 mm blade for one folding handle is not established as a replacement for an 8-inch FELCO 603 or another nominally similar saw. For ZUBAT, match 270-33 rather than borrowing the specifications of a different ZUBAT generation or tooth option.

Before adding a sharpener, follow the actual saw blade’s care and replacement guidance. FELCO 903 is described for pruning-shear, lopper and cable-cutter edges; that does not establish a filing procedure for these saw teeth. Keep blade treatment and the model’s own instructions with the service decision.

Questions before choosing

I only prune branches. Is the three-blade kit automatically the better purchase?

Not from the blade count alone. Its blades have different named material roles. Compare the black pruning blade and shared handle with the dedicated curved Corona or FELCO saws if those other blade roles are unnecessary.

How do I compare 7.5 teeth per 30 mm with a TPI-labelled blade?

Keep both number and unit. The ZUBAT listing itself also gives 6.4 teeth per inch; do not compare 7.5 and a TPI number as though their length units were identical.

I want a fixed blade but a separate cover. Which example includes that arrangement?

ZUBAT 270-33 includes a locking scabbard for its fixed 330 mm blade. The folding models instead store the blade in the handle; those are different carrying choices.

Can my pruning-shear sharpening stone also service the saw teeth?

Do not assume the same procedure. FELCO 903’s stated edge uses cover pruning shears, loppers and cable cutters. Match a saw-maintenance or replacement choice to the exact blade’s instructions and treatment.
